Waynflete teams are regular contenders for—and frequent winners of—Maine state championships.
Yes, that matters. But not as much as the lessons our students learn on their teams—lessons that involve their bodies, their sense of teamwork, and their ability to have fun.
Waynflete’s athletic program is dedicated to ensuring that every student gets the benefit of a complete education in body, 心, 和精神.
We try to find an outlet for all athletic talents and interests. Everybody gets to play. Everybody deserves the benefits of vigorous athletics. Students learn about collaboration and about working as a team. They discover how to formulate strategies, execute tactics, and make quick decisions under pressure—and see just how far they can go.
Varsity and Junior Varsity
Varsity and JV teams participate in the Western Maine Conference of secondary schools. Players develop basic skills and gain experience in competition. Success is defined by how much the student and team improve during the season. Members are expected to commit completely to their teams and to strive for excellence.
The Fore River Fields
Waynflete athletes have plenty of room to move: six tennis courts, two playing fields, a practice field and a baseball field at our athletic complex nearby on the Fore River, plus another field, 新巴黎人注册网站的体育馆, and our state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility at the main campus.
Waynflete船员
The Waynflete crew program welcomes students from other schools to condition and train alongside Waynflete student athletes and practice at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Waynflete Fore River boathouse beginning in Grade 9.
Independent Athletic Programs
Students with special skills or interests can opt for individual athletic programs (IAPs) in fields such as dance, 击剑, 体操, 花样滑冰, 和帆船.
Physical Education Classes
While participating in a team sport is strongly encouraged at Waynflete, students have many ways to improve their physical fitness and skills. Physical education offerings in 上学校 include yoga, physical conditioning, and more.
